Yes that's right a metal box that once upon a time had sailed the seas probably from the Far East to the UK and back again, but on Monday night it was my accommodation of choice for the night.
Snooze Box is a relatively new concept in the UK but a great one. I'd driven down the M6 on Monday to set up ready for a show that was starting at 8am on Tuesday morning at the world famous Silverstone.
Nowadays if you want the certainty of arriving at a destination you need to allow plenty of time to dodge the inevitable traffic queues and for me that meant leaving the office the day before and staying in a hotel. But Monday night was no ordinary hotel.... it was a Snooze Box - a fully insulated metal container with a shower to rival many well known branded 4* hotel chains.
The layout was delightfully and imaginatively efficient with every nook and cranny utilized and optimized.
As I propped myself up against the crisp white linen clad pillow to watch a few minutes TV before turning out the light I was able to check my email and adjust the heating controls with the remote.
I slept well and arrived fresh and relaxed in the morning to chat to visitors to the DriveWorks Booth. The Snooze Box was a great topic to break the ice but also got me thinking once again about architecture, automtive style production plants for construction and DriveWorks.... there were so many things inside the box that could have been specified using a DriveWorks configurator.
